The Path Chosen

His wedding band hung from his dog tag chain. As he sat, he stared at the golden circle while contemplating the events that brought him  to where he was currently. But not so much the physical location, but the state of where. That was the question that continued to nag at him for the past few years; how did you get yourself where you are now? The guard pounding on the door to his cell brought his focus more to bare on the immediate issue: how to engage Plan B?

“Plan B”; the plan that every Employee has been drilled, beaten or otherwise made to understand is to be used when taken captive or prisoner. Being taken captive or prisoner, of course, isn’t supposed to happen either so things are more than a bit complicated at the moment. Back to the task at hand: how to get out with minimal collateral damage to the locals?  The task will be interesting as well as messy and more than a few people will get hurt. But it isn’t like this is his first time. Twice before this has come to point and the third time is a charm; or so they say. Right now, he’d like to get his hands on “they”.

If you’ve been tracking to date you already know where this all started. Alright … so you have not been paying attention. In that case, We will fill you in on recent events. Several years back a particular “job” needed to be done and he was available. They found him and placed him back into the environment for which he was well suited and adapted. And in his typical manner in where all things planned go wrong, they did and with gusto. The exception is unlike the past situations in which he simply adapted to the situation in order to minimize conflict and casualties; this time, he chose the current chaotic path that has placed him where he is currently. And now, he is faced with the engagement of Plan B with little possibility of an alternative plan that doesn’t include destroying everything in his path to accomplish what needs to be done; his typical pattern.

Something will have to change. But whose choice is it really?
